What Do You Wish Someone Had Told Your When You First Joined BNI?

Ensure you follow, precisely the principles of BNI because quite simply the system works provided you are fully committed to the process.

Do You Have a BNI Story to share?

Over the years I have seen a number of members come and go, some leaving BNI because they have not got the results they desired. In nearly all cases this is because they have not done the required activity in terms of Dance Cards, inviting visitors and seeking opportunities for other members in terms of referrals. I can assure you I have tried to follow the principles of BNI in terms of Givers Gain and it has resulted in being the single best avenue of new business for my business, Business Revamp.

Which Business Book Would Your Recommend & Why?

As a strategist I have to say ”The Art of War” by Sun Tzu. Not everyone’s ”cup of tea” I know. Ann-Marie Harwick put it well when she said ”a book that you find positive and uplifting”

How Did Your Find Out About BNI & Why Did You Join?

Through general conversation with business colleagues and friends. I had heard mixed comments and a variety of perspectives. After attending a meeting as a visitor I saw the structure first hand and recognised the value based on your personal input.

How Long Have You Been a Member For?

Since September 2010 when we chartered

What Position/s On The Leadership Team Have You Held?

President, Membership Committee

What value & benefit have you or your business gained by being a BNI Member?

The major value is the group itself – Being a diverse group of people and businesses allows for the development of ”power groups” to be formed HOWEVER it also gives every member the ability to attend events external to BNI with other members. This broadens your network and assists in developing credibility with fellow members.

What Do You Wish Someone Had Told Your When You First Joined BNI?

As a founding member of a new Chapter it would have been great to understand the ”development and growth cycle” of a Chapter. We are all told ”build your Chapter and large amounts of business will flow”. That’s great however as the larger Chapters will tell you – This takes between three and five years of hard work. The road is littered with membership fluctuation – The lesson is not to be disappointed and stay true to the processes

Do You Have a BNI Story to share?

One of our members provided an introduction to a client of her business because of my rural background. That person actually became a cost to my business however while we worked together our relationship developed to a stage where he referred me to one of his colleagues. This has developed into a great business relationship. As recognition, all closed business is accredited to the memberbecause of the initial introduction.

Your Dream Referral Is…

A manufacturing business with over 100 employees and a senior executive (owners, shareholders and employees) seeking a professional to strategically challenge them and the business to enable the business to identify and capitalise on emerging opportunities.

I have recently rejoined for my second year.

What Position/s On The Leadership Team Have You Held?

Visitor Host

What value & benefit have you or your business gained by being a BNI Member?

I personally have made some new freinds and along with that, hopefully have gained their trust in being able to reccomend their freinds and family to come along and learn to Dance.
There are many benifits, all you need to do, is listen to your members needs and get information, that could somehow assist you with ideas.

What Do You Wish Someone Had Told Your When You First Joined BNI?
Nothing realy: I beleive that when you join anything the best way to learn, is the old fassioned way LLL: look Listen and learn and then ask questions.

Do You Have a BNI Story to share?

Just this week we had a celebration for one of our members that decided to retire not just from BNI, but from work.

A group of us took him out to lunch, had a couple of drinks and had conversations that went everywhere.

The main topic was regarding his Holiday. I think that we were all envious of him. The greatest thing that can happen to anyone is to be able to one day retire and have a long and happy life, we all hope that Greg Christian has one, as he was an inspiration at our meetings, and as well showed that he has a good sence of humour. The Morningstar Chapter wishes him a happy and long retirement.

Your Dream Referral Is…

My dream referral is that one day we get so many customers, that the income will allow both my partner and myself to retire, and do the venture and enjoy what Greg Christian is about to do.
