What are your top 3 networking tips?

1. Be constant and consistent with your presence. No matter what networking circles you choose to be in, be consistent with your attendance.

2. Remember to follow up. The power truly is in the follow up.

3. Don’t be afraid to say no. There is nothing worse than promising to do something in order to try and please someone and then fail to deliver.

What can’t you live without?

I can’t live without my family of course but I also can’t live without my business family as well.

The Author Within – by Sue Kennedy. It really does give the idea in your mind the ability to come out and be seen.

How Did Your Find Out About BNI & Why Did You Join?

I found out about BNI back in 2005 (10 years ago) and joined a new group at BNI Morningstar in Campbelltown. It was a great and vibrant group. I still refer to people I met at that Chapter and some of them still get closed business from people I referred to them to help them.

What value & benefit have you or your business gained by being a BNI Member?

I have gained the ability to being able to craft my message to different audiences and have the confidence to be able to stay true to my underlying values.

What Do You Wish Someone Had Told Your When You First Joined BNI?

That I would have so much fun doing it.

Do You Have a BNI Story to share?

My best BNI Story is visiting a Chapter as a substitute and being introduced to the Accountant of the Chapter who then introduced me to a client that was suffering in his business. I was able to put together a strategy that not only saved that business but also meant that the Accountant looked so good, he received a good number of referrals in the following year that he grew his business by 25% in one year.

Your Dream Referral Is…

My dream referral is to be introduced to a mid-tier or secondary lender that sometimes has exposures that they need assistance with either advice or collection strategies.

Do You Have a BNI Story to share?

As an employee I was very careful to ensure I used all of my sixty seconds and would read off my spiel in an effort to fit in as much detail as possible each week on any given topic.

Malcolm, our educator queried this as it didn’t really fit with my personality. I wasn’t actually engaging the group. Now I just “tell a story” and can make eye contact and feel much more authentic in my minute.

Your Dream Referral Is…

We would like to help businesses with 10 employees or more who are looking to grow (or are growing organically) build engaging and productive workplaces.
