Tell us about your business:

ASTA Solutions is an end to end IT services company. In the Corporate Connections chapter of BNI we represent the Web, Software and Mobile Application space developing solutions from marketing websites right through to automated software and applications which help businesses accurately process data.

What are your top 3 networking tips?

– God made us with two ears and one mouth so use them proportionally (Listen!)
– Ask lots of questions
– Be genuinely interested in responses

What can’t you live without?

Drive. Anything in life can be achieved if you have the drive to work toward it.

Which Business Book Would Your Recommend & Why? 

E-Myth. This was one of the first books I was given when starting sales and I still stand by some of the key messages in it.

How Did Your Find Out About BNI & Why Did You Join?

In my previous life I managed a restaurant/cafe which housed 3 BNI chapters. Once seeing the structure from one end I was determined to be part of it when joining the corporate world.

What value & benefit have you or your business gained by being a BNI Member?

There are many different benefits to being part of BNI, the obvious one being financial. By having an extended sales team the business has been able to access new business networks and manage additional contracts.

The second and what I feel is the more important benefit has been the amazing network of genuine business people we have been introduced to. I have been lucky enough to join one of the most sought after chapters I Melbourne and with this came a group of like minded, business savvy entrepreneurs. This hs been fantastic from both a business and personal perspective.

What Do You Wish Someone Had Told Your When You First Joined BNI? 

Just how important the giver’s gain mentality is. It has been proven time after time that the more effort we put into BNI, the more benefit we gain from it.

Do You Have a BNI Story to share?

There have been many great stories which have come from BNI including our recent team which we entered in Spartan Race, a 14 km obstacle course however the one that really stands out in my mind is a bit different.

I have always been a confident public speaker however the first time I had to stand up and do a 60 second presentation in from of 30+ respectable business owners in Melbourne was one of the most daunting.

BNI taught me that even the most confident speakers have their moments and managing this is an important lesson.

It now gives me great pleasure when new members join as we get to watch them grow in their presentation skills.

Your Dream Referral Is…

I enjoy the task of assisting companies make better use of their online platforms which includes any company.

If I had to choose a dream referral it would have to be Melbourne Aquarium (now called Sea Life). I believe you can do better work in areas you are really passionate about and this is one of my real passions.
