What Do You Wish Someone Had Told Your When You First Joined BNI? 

That there is a system for substitutes.

I travel about every 4-6 weeks for a week, hence attendance as required is a challenge. The substitute system disolves that challenge. I would have joined two years earlier if I had been clear on this.
